John was like, no we can’t have Boozer doing that. I was just focusing on communicating that pain. Apparently, I am much more a crybaby than Boozer is. When we shot it, I was focusing more on how the pain would feel and conveying that. I get the script like the night then start imagining it and working on them. What I did was I imagined what it would be like. Acting is nothing other than playing pretend, hopefully at a really high level. The simple answer is I use my imagination. Witwer said, “John had the latitude to shoot something, see if it worked, go back to the drawing board if it didn’t.” John was quick to make quips, but Witwer explained that he worked with Sony Bend and all found a way to fit “very realistic, grim, gallows humor in this world.” Days Gone‘s cast, Director John Garvin, and the rest of the team at Sony Bend figured out what tone the project needed as development progressed. As time went on, Witwer said that he warmed up to the process and started to enjoy it as he began to understand his character. ![]()
